WHITE have been a bit of a slow burner for me. Whilst I recognised their potential and their solid musicianship, I didn’t really connect with the songs.
That is until now. The near immaculate ‘Step Up’ has surfaced and pushed me into their realm of discopunk. Electro had seemingly stalled for a while and become generically saturated with predictable production, but this is like LCD Soundsystem with a dose of PETN.
‘Step Up’ is a raucous rave-up of post-punk riffs, funky disco beats and a merciless vocal delivery by frontman Leo Condie. This is the kind of edgy dance-rock jam that will be as popular in clubs as it is in arenas.
