London’s The End Festival kicks off later this week boasting 9 days of events across 9 venues.
With around 26 artists, the independent festival founded by Howard Monk has gained a stellar reputation for its ethos, diversity and high calibre musicians.
Eight years ago, Monk started The End as a two-venue event in Crouch End, where he used to live. Over time, the festival grew and in 2017, it’s bigger than ever before with a view to expand beyond London’s boundaries.
“I’d like to expand beyond, maybe twinning with a different town year on year,” says Monk. “I’d definitely like go to places, which might have a somewhat tainted view of the “elitist” music/arts scene.”
The line-up also sees Scottish artists taking part. RM Hubbert and The Van T’s will be performing and Song By Toad roster stalwart, David Thomas Broughton will be playing 3 shows.
One of the most notable events of the festival is Fearless. Author Jeanette Leech‘s book about the making of post-rock is the nucleus around which this show has been built around. Leech will be in conversation and an impressive list of acts will perform on the day. Black Peaches, Re-TROS, RM Hubbert, Billy Mahonie, Righthand_Lefthand, Ilk, Land Observations, KOMPROMAT, Tolerance Manoeuvre, David Callaghan (MOONSHAKE//WOLFHOUNDS) and False Hope For The Savage will all be live.
