Singer-songwriter Sam Lynch manages to bring solace in the most poignant of retellings thanks to a stripped back version of ‘Good Year‘.
A song centered around loss and the rollercoaster that surrounds it, there is still a mantra of hope that places an aura around it. Lynch’s vocal is a light to follow through the subdued mist and thanks to her almost lyrical pleas that “it will be a good year” you are left with a subtle optimism long after the song ends.
This is one of those sonnets which offers a virtual hand on your back. It’s not intrusive, it’s not sweeping, it’s just pure comfort.
