Ransom FA: ‘Table (feat. Lord Akira)’

Aberdeen rapper Ransom FA continues to storm the trajectory of the UK hip-hop scene and latest single ‘Table‘ will have the critics sitting up.

I remember when I booked Ransom to support Ghostface Killah as part of Restless Natives Festival back in 2016 and it was clear, even then, that he was destined for great things. Having continued to push not only his musical narrative but social conscience and a desire to make his community better, this goes beyond the music.

Table‘ sees Ransom FA entering a more slick commercial field and a crossover into the mainstream. His Scottish lilt subtly makes itself known through his flow and the guttural deep bassline that steers this track is one of its highlights. And it’s those contrasts that replicate the deeper meanings of this track. The hardships and questions over relationships are tackled but are done so in a way that feels philosophical.

There’s a pride that exudes when you see someone from Scotland doing this well, but it can’t be incubated like that. Ransom FA is now a recognised player, not only on his home turf, but nationally.
