It feels like we have just blinked until Kumi Takahara‘s last release ‘Tide‘ but the beauty continues to unfold with new release ‘Roll‘.
Takahara has a real gift of taking space and manipulating it in a way that feels both poignant and packed full of intrigue. A new composer to be recognised by the masses, latest single ‘Roll‘ manages to take repetition and still hold fixed gaze throughout.
Mini discordant string flicks, unassuming vocal lines, dampened percussive heartbeats and a continuous pondering piano all combine to make a score fitting of an aching visual. The difference is, Takahara dominates sonically with little effort.
