If you were to come into my house and look through my music collection, the percentage of Icelandic artists almost outweighs that of any other country.
A new kid on the block (compared to the likes of Bjork and Sigur Ros) is Ásgeir. He is still at the birth of his career and at the age of 21 has already had a level of musical success that many crave.
Having toured with the very successful Of Monsters & Men, Ásgeir has emerged as an artist to keep an eye on.
His single ’Torrent’ is released through One Little Indian December 11th and he will also be touring the UK in December including a show in Glasgow.
‘Torrent’ is lofty in temptation and puts me in mind of artists such as S. Carey. It echoes the renowned Icelandic sentiment of throwing all your emotion into your music as if it was your final outpouring. Ásgeir has delivered a majestic track designed to be heard as loudly as possible.
Tour Dates:
Monday 9th December – Leeds, Wardrobe
Tuesday 10th December – Bristol, Exchange
Wednesday 11th December – London, Bush Hall
Thursday 12th December – Brighton, Green Door Store
Sunday 15th December – Glasgow, Broadcast
Monday 16th December – Manchester, Deaf Institute
