With his debut EP, Hunting For Hummingbirds due out later this year, Melbourne-based Sam McLaren aka Handkerchief Thief has revealed his first single, ‘Salted Skin’.
There are obvious comparisons to the likes of alt-J here, but there is a diacritic dynamic to McLaren that sets him apart from his influences. With its short, sharp rhythmical backbone, syncopated guitar tickles and wealthy vocal, this is a reflective gem of a song that whirls the senses.
