Nice Swan Introduces… series brought to you by Nice Swan Records has continued a monthly series shining a spotlight on emerging talent and their latest offering is Colchester’s Anorak Patch.
Their latest single ‘Irate‘ injects a much-needed dose of quality discordant rock into our listening stream. Far be it from me to focus too heavily on the mean age of the band but when you are informed the drummer is 14 then you can’t help but sit back and feel impressed. More so, as the band prove themselves more dynamically interesting than a gross amount of their peers.
‘Irate‘ is tight, accomplished and combines texture intelligently. Effie Lawrence’s vocal provides a shade of light amongst the venom of the music bed behind her. Drawing notable influence from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and System of a Down, their own influence is obvious and seeps through their performance and songwriting effortlessly.
This is a smouldering rock single and places distinct hope on the next wave of bands coming through.
