Nashville-based singer-songwriter Berlue weaves all manner of emotional potency with their latest release ‘excuses‘.
Almost all of us have been there, the want to tell those who have broken hearts and spirit but the need for them to know the gravity of it. Berlue manages to convey the heaviness of the emotion but also the desire to escape the exhaustion.
Musically, the swells in the arrangement back up the sentiment and there’s a melodic fluency that feels effortless. Self-reclamation is always on the periphery of ‘excuses‘ and this is catharsis at its best.
