Gabby Rivers sounds like she’s already decided the mix can keep up, and she’s enjoying the fight. The production is big and gritty, and she rides over the top of ‘Bleed‘ without ever shouting to be heard. That takes nerve on a record this size, and she has it to spare.
The grit is the artist’s own word, and the song takes the instruction seriously. There’s spit and bruise in the sound, the kind that gets under your collar. Then the power arrives, and it doesn’t ask permission. Play it loud enough and the day gets a little braver.
