We have put together a list of songs that have stood out this month for a plethora of reasons. Please take the time to invest and immerse in them:
The Bad Years: ‘In The House (High All Day)’
It’s been a year since LA duo The Bad Year released anything, ‘In The House (High All Day)’ is the perfect comeback. Whilst it explores sparse territories in terms of its arrangement, the chorus is sweet, seductive and completely addictive. It doesn’t matter if you forgot about them, this blows anything previous out of the water.
Bruiser Queen: ‘Telepathic Mind’
I think you would need to be in severe denial if you weren’t reminded by the likes of Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney when listening to US duo, Bruiser Queen. This is a smart, danceable track that should keep mosh pits dynamic this year.
The Amazons: ‘In My Mind’
Let’s face it, The Amazons are on their way to becoming part of a new breed of high class, recognised, lad rock bands from the UK. Whilst previous tracks have left me a bit middle of the road, ‘In My Mind’ shows a different level. The production, delivery and arrangement just shows more maturity and it has a real gutsy, stadium appeal about it.
LIANA BANK$: ‘Table For One’
The production throughout this is on point. It’s an infectious RnB pop banger with deep production, full-bodied “Bug A Boo” bass punches and a nectarous vocal.
Jai Wolf, KRNE: ‘Drive (feat. The Chain Gang)’
The skill in the production here is notable: strong melodies, defiant chords, synthesised gut-punches and a tremendously accomplished clarity to the whole proceedings. This is intense. It also is deceptive and that’s why I love it.
