Onry: ‘Livin’ in the Light’

Onry may be one of the only Black male professional opera singers in the Pacific Northwest, but his voice shines as one to have in your life.

The Portland talent powerhouse has emerged with the startling magnum opus ‘Livin’ in the Light‘.  A shimmering instrumental backdrop gives way to some of the most affecting vocal performances you will experience this year.

“A song about my experience of singing in Portland during quarantine and at civil rights protests”, explains Onry, this further fuels the emotion and potency of his body of work.

His falsetto is a phoenix rising and his choral compadres provide a waterfall of sound which is so profoundly moving that it will shake you immeasurably.

We are sometimes thrown a sonic curveball which helps us remember why music is a vital addition to our lives and this is one of those reminders.
