Having recently released her Quitting Season EP via Born Losers Records, Meredith Lampe aka Work Wife, release ‘Too Young To Understand’ gives a sublime taster of what to expect.
Channeling feelings of helplessness and the complication of relationships, much like the navigation through both these fields, Lampe manages to create a surprising sonic journey in this song.
There are such epic moments of light and shade here and the story this weaves is heart-rending and riveting. The emotion seeps thanks to Lampe’s vocal but also thanks to tender hooks in the guitar lines are perhaps most poignant.
Graphic and unfiltered, this is one of the year’s highlights.
