Martin John Henry and Gillian Fleetwood – ‘Forestry’

Some of you may recognise the names behind today’s Song of the Day.

Henry is frontman of epic band De Rosa and Fleetwood is one half of harp duo The Duplets, but also plays in Glasgow’s own State Broadcasters.

‘Forestry’ is taken from upcoming debut EP, On the Forest Floor and the pair are aiming to release a full length record some time in 2015. I didn’t actually know they had collaborated until Lloyd Meredith (Peenko, Olive Grove Records) pointed me in their direction.

For fans of Low, this will be an instant penchant, but I will add that Henry and Fleetwood flourish in their own distinctive way. The result is a song that can swell your heart like a lullaby, yet also creates a dark melancholy that is utterly compelling.
