Bristol is arguably one of the most musically rich cities in the UK. Thanks to collectives like Howling Owl, bands like Spectres and Lice and previous pioneers Massive Attack and Portishead, I have always felt it has been a sibling to our own beloved Glasgow in that respect.
Jilk are the latest band to be pinned to our listening post, with their new album Joy In The End is on the horizon, the most recent single ‘Clavoline‘ has been revealed as a heady taster.
For all its encased fragility, there are also melodic strands flourishing here into a trembling and hushed lullaby. This is a new breed of folktronica that carries the legacy of the likes of Múm and Marble Sounds in its own unique way.
