As a teenager, when it came to buying new records I would do one of three things.
I would go by media and see what I liked to influence me, I would go by my friends recommendations or I would just buy something because I liked the cover of the release.

I thought it might be nice to start a series looking at taking a leap of faith again and buying records because I liked the look of them. It also means I start investing more into the physical side of music again and putting back into my local shops. I am not going to like everything, but there is something really exciting about the unknown.
This week’s pick is fromLove Music, located on Glasgow’s Dundas Street. They hold a tremendous selection and I am sure if they don’t have the release you are looking for, store owner Sandy McLean and his staff are more than happy to order in.
Browsing the ‘New Indie Release’ section, I came across Porches new album Pool. A simple, yet stunning cover with clear vinyl. Released back on 5th February via one of the most reliable labels for excellent music output – Domino. I predict people will be wondering how the hell I have not heard of Porches previously, but it’s a big musical world out there!
A sophisticated record, Pool has countless melodic hooks and complex beats running through it, but it also manages to create this everlasting haze that reminds me of the best days of summer. For electro fans out there, this is worth the investment.
